RDS Lawns was founded in 1996, and for 30 years we’ve had the privilege of serving homeowners across the Charlotte area. We’re family-owned and family-run, and today two generations work side-by-side to help our neighbors grow lawns they’re proud of.

The name RDS matters deeply to us. In May of 1996, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss when our oldest brother passed away. His name was Robert Dillard Suttenfield IV, and because he was the last one to carry our family name, we chose his initials — RDS — to honor him and carry that name forward through a business built on integrity and care.

From the beginning, we believed customers deserved more than “good enough.” That’s why Aaron invested in learning the craft early on, completing the two-year horticulture program at Central Piedmont Community College. That foundation still guides how we care for lawns today: with skill, consistency, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

Over time, we learned something important — the best results come from focus. That’s why we refined RDS into a lawn care company built around expert turf programs, consistent service, and clear communication. And in a world where many home service companies are being bought up and run by large corporate groups, RDS stays different in a simple way: we still care like owners, because we are. You’re not a number in a national call center — you’re a neighbor.

We also believe great service starts with great people. That’s why we employ full-time Route Managers (not seasonal temps) and invest in them with healthcare, retirement, and paid vacation. Our Route Managers run dedicated territories, often caring for the same lawns consistently — which builds trust, long-term results, and better communication.
